Tumblr times

Hi there! I'm very busy these times, I don't know why but I feel blogging like too much for me.
I hade so many things to post in those months and no energy.
I guess tumblr is more fast and easy to use for busy times and it was long time I was planning to make one with some extras like: doodles, work in progress, previews, etc.

Comics Daily - Alice nella città / Roma

In questi giorni sono a Roma, lavorando per Alice nella città, la rassegna di cinema per ragazzi, parte del Festival Internazionale del Film di Roma (9/17 novembre). Gli organizzatori hanno invitato Teiera (nelle vesti di Cristina, Sarah e la sottoscritta) a lavorare al daily "Cinemonitor" pubblicato ogni giorno del festival. Lavoriamo all'impaginazione sulla base di un progetto grafico realizzato da Pietro Corraini. Inseriamo articoli creati da una redazione formata da studenti dell'Università La Sapienza.
Creiamo ogni giorno una pagina a fumetti con le nostre impressioni sul festival e ci occupiamo di mandare in stampa il daily con una stampante Risograph che stampa a due colori matissimi: blu e fucsia fluorescente.

Posto qui la mia prima pagina, realizzata il giorno dopo il mio arrivo, un primo impatto con Roma: della difficoltà di trovare l'autobus M per arrivare all'Auditorium al meraviglioso documentario su Tomi Ungerer che ho potuto vedere appena arrivata. In these days I'm in Rome, working for Alice nella città, the teen movies season part of the Festival Internazionale del Film di Roma (9th/17th november).
The organizers invited Teiera (Cristina, Sarah and me) to work on the daily "Cinemonitor" published each day during the festival. We work on the page layout designed by Pietro Corraini. We insert articles wrote by an editorial staff formed by La Sapienza Univeristy students.
We create everyday a comic page with our impressions of the festival and we set up the Risograph printer which prints in crazy duotone: blue and fuchsia fluo.
I post here my first comic page, realized the day after my arrive, were I tell my first impression of Rome: the difficulty to get a M bus to reach the Auditorium and the wonderful documentary on Tomi Ungerer I had the chance to watch just arrived. Berlin with Sarah

From august 30th till september 3rd, Sarah and I we spend some days in Berlin. We went for Die Lange Nacht Der Illustration a nice event held in the whole Berlin, each district had opening exhibitions. It was amazing.
We really apreciated the works of Atak, Marta Sławińska, Katja Spitzer, Valerio Vidali and Violeta Lópiz. We also enjoyed the artwork and spent some nice time with Cristina Sitja Rubio, Cristóbal Schmal, Isidro Ferrer,  It's Raining Elephants.
Then we went to the Mauer Park, we discovered vietnamese coffee, we biked a lot with Davide from Bologna, I also felt down with my bike because of the tram rails (! :( !), we eated a great korean dinner with Lucrezia and Raimund. We visited Re:Surgo! store held by Bongout guys, we discovered Renate Comix and we got lost in Die Gestalten store and Urban Outfitters too!

Dal 30 agosto al 3 settembre, con Sarah siamo state un po' di giorni a Berlino. Siamo andate con la scusa di visitare le mostre di Die Lange Nacht Der Illustration un'iniziativa molto interessante: una notte bianca degli illustratori, in tutta Berlino c'erano inaugurazioni di mostre di illustratori tedeschi e non. Bellissimo.
Abbiamo potuto apprezzare i lavori di Atak, Marta Sławińska, Katja Spitzer, Valerio Vidali e Violeta Lópiz. Ma anche quelli di Cristina Sitja Rubio, Cristóbal Schmal, Isidro Ferrer,  It's Raining Elephants con cui abbiamo passato anche un po' di tempo, pranzo e chiacchiere insieme.
Siamo andate al Mauer Park - che è molto diverso da come lo avevo lasciato 7 anni fa - abbiamo scoperto il caffé vietnamita, abbiamo girato tantisimo in bici insieme a Davide di Bologna, sono anche caduta con la bici perché la ruota si è incastrata nei binari del tram (! :( !)  e abbiamo mangiato una fantastica cena coreana con Lucrezia e Raimund. Abbiamo visitato il negozio Re:Surgo! gestito dai ragazzi di Bongout guys, scoperto Renate Comix e perse nel negozio dell'editore Die Gestalten, ma anche dentro a Urban Outfitters!

Pictoplasma / Post Digital Monsters

My Groar Monster it's been selected for the Pictoplasma MISSING LINK PROJECT, that is part of the PICTOPLASMA - POST DIGITAL MONSTERS exhibition inaugurating in these hours at the gallery La Gaîté Lyrique, in Paris. The monster it's part of an installation of 500 selected monsters in a contest with 5000 participants. I'm so glad to be part of this, I love monsters and yeti things and this exhibition sounds great! Look at the video and at the work in progress pictures below to get an idea. And this is the link to the festival program.

The festival is going to be in Paris from December 7 to 31. I'm just back from Paris (I was at the Salon du livre of Montreuil), it's a shame I'm not there, so if you visit the exhibition and you catch my monster, please say HI to him and send me a picture!

Il mio Mostro Groar delle ormai famose borsine è stato selezionato per il MISSING LINK PROJECT di Pictoplasma, andrà a fare parte di una mostra che inaugura proprio in queste ore a Parigi: PICTOPLASMA - POST DIGITAL MONSTERS, alla galleria La Gaîté Lyrique.
Il mostrino è parte di un'istallazione di 500 mostri selezionati da un concorso a cui abbiamo partecipato in 5000 (wow!). Sono proprio contenta di farne parte, mi piacciono tantissimo i mostri, gli yeti e affini; le mostre e le performance che ci saranno sembrano davvero fantastiche! Il festival di Parigi durerà dal 7 al 31 dicembre. Sfortunatamente, sono appena tornata da Parigi, ero al Salone del libro di Montreuil, è un peccato non esserci, per cui se per caso siete nei paraggi e trovate il mio mostrino, per favore salutatelo per me e mandatemi una foto!

New website!

It's a couple of days my new website is online: www.giuliasagramola.it
I've created a new graphic design for it and I added all the new stuff I've done this year. There are two new sections: exhibitions and workshops that I'll be going to update with past events and future ones. I've also created a "books" tag, so you can just click there to see all my personal books. I hope you enjoy it!

SWAP / Giornate di scambio creativo

Last week-end I had invited 19 friends (illustrators, comic drawers and graphic designers) to come in my hometown, Fabriano, to stay together and work on a common project. We had a great time, we have eaten a lot of good food, talked about funny things, shared our favourites books and artists, created alternative postcards for the city.

Lo scorso fine settimana, avevo invitato 19 amici (illustratori, fumettisti e grafici) a venire nella mia città, Fabriano, per stare insieme e lavorare su un progetto comune. Abbiamo passato delle bellissime giornate, mangiando cibo buonissimo, parlando di cose poco serie, condividendo i nostri artisti e libri preferiti, creando delle cartoline alternative per la città.

A silkscreening sunday

Yesterday it was a very particular sunday, I've passed it silkscreening with Sarha and Andrea in Andrea's studio in Bergamo. We made lots of new totes, moreover future gadgets (surprise!) for my etsy shop. Last week I've designed new works on dachshund dogs and we silkscreened them in different textiles and colors. What a beautiful day and finally I've met Andrea, who usually prints my monster pillows and bags, a very nice person, you can look at his blog for other images. Soon it will be possible to buy my new creations in etsy or writing me an email.

I hope you'll enjoy them, I really do.

Ieri è stata davvero una domenica particolare, l'ho passata interamente a serigrafare con Andrea e l'aiuto di Sarah, nello studio di Andrea a Bergamo. Abbiamo fatto tantissime nuove borsine, inoltre - e soprattutto - abbiamo stampato quelli che diventeranno nuovi gadget per il mio negozio etsy (sorpresa!). La scorsa settimana ho disegnato i nuovi lavori a tema bassotti e li abbiamo serigrafati su diversi tessuti e colori. È stata una bellissima giornata e finalmente ho conosciuto di persona Andrea, che stampa solitamente i miei mostrini e le borse, è davvero in gamba, potete vedere altre foto sul suo blog. Presto sarà possibile acquistare i frutti del nostro duro lavoro su etsy o scrivendomi un'email.

Spero vi piacciano, a me piacciono già tantissimo!

A work, the web and the winners

Finally I've some time to post (at 1.30 am!), actually we are working all the day long (and more) for the Bilbolbul festival, it's really soon! I'd like to show you the works I've done in the last period, for examples this illustration for a book cover. This was a work I've done some month ago, in the end of the project, the editor opted for a picture for some art direction reasons, but I'm still very satisfied of the result and the hand writing work. The book talks about a young girl, about her first love, how she got pregnant and her decision... the title "Se" means "if".

Id like to share with you some links too, on those days some website talked about my work.

1. Nicoz posted a drawing I made to her some months ago, have you ever seen her beautiful blogs? I hope so! I'm really fan of her work and lifestyle.

Finalmente ho un po' di tempo per postare (all'una e mezza di notte!), attualmente stiamo lavorando tutto il giorno (e più) per il festival Bilbolbul, è prestissimo! Mi piacerebbe iniziare mostrare i lavori che ho fatto in questi ultimi sei mesi, per esempio questa illustrazione per una copertina. Si tratta di un lavoro fatto mesi fa, alla fine del progetto l'editore ha optato per una foto, per questioni di art direction, ma sono ancora molto soddisfatta del risultato e del lavoro di scrittura a mano. Il libro parla di una giovane liceale, del suo primo amore, di come rimane incinta e della sua decisione...

Ciliegina sulla torta, mi piacerebbe condividere questi link, in questi giorni alcuni siti hanno parlato del mio lavoro in modi diversi, mi ha fatto un grande piacere.

1. Nicoz ha postato un disegno che le ho fatto quasi un anno fa, avete mai visto i suoi bei blog? Dovreste! Sono una sua super fan, del suo lavoro e del suo stile.
