London Zine Symposium 2011

Here I am, back to London, the London Zine Symposium was a great experience, I was impressed by the quality and the quantity of zines around. It was clear that in London there's a big culture of DIY, graphic and illustrated zines, political and social publishings, but I didn't imagine how much great stuff there is. Moreover there were lots and lots of people, never stop! I wanted to have more time to have a look to the workshop events, to all the stalls and meet all the people I wanted to meet, anyway I've passed a real good time.

I've finally met Anke and Thereza in person, they were so nice! I had a little talk with one of my favourites illustrator, Harriet Russell and spent some good time talking with the guys of Nobrow (I'm really a big fan of their good publishings).

Sono tornata da Londra, il London Zine Symposium è stato veramente un'esperienza interessante, sono rimasta impressionata dalla quantità e dalla qualità delle fanzine. che c'erano in giro. Sapevo già che a Londra c'è una forte cultura dell'autoproduzione, fanzine grafiche e illustrate, pubblicazioni di carattere politico e sociale, ma non immaginavo quanto materiale di buona qualità potesse esserci. Inoltre, il pubblico era davvero numeroso, non c'è mai stato un momento di vuoto! Avrei voluto avere più tempo per poter visitare gli workshop e tutti i banchetti con più attenzione, poter conoscere tutti quelli che avrei voluto, ma in ogni caso ho passato davvero una bella giornata.

Finalmente ho conosciuto di persona Anke e Thereza, sono state davvero carine! Ho potuto parlare un po' con una delle mie illustratrici preferite, Harriet Russell e ho passato un po' di tempo parlando con i ragazzi di Nobrow (sono davvero una grande fan delle loro pubblicazioni, le avete mai viste? Sono bellissime!).

I've also had the pleasure to meet Katie from the Green Bean zines and Lizz Lunney, I knew her comic blog, really funny!

Ho anche avuto il piacere di conoscere Katie di Green Bean zines e Lizz Lunney, conoscevo già il suo blog a fumetti, sono super divertenti!

Next to my stall there were Shebang! girls and Hate magazine, I didn't know them works, but I've discovered it during the day and had fun looking at them creations, nice to meet you guys!

During the day I've also met Fabrizio who just gave as a present his last magazine, Nonamarmi, it's really good and well done, good luck to him and his project.

Vicino al mio banchetto c'erano le ragazze diShebang! da un lato e Hate magazine dall'altro, non conoscevo i loro lavori, ma ho avuto modo di sfogliarli durante la giornata, è stato un piacere conoscervi!

Durante la giornata ho incontrato anche Fabrizio che mi ha regalato la sua nuova rivista fresca di stampa, Nonamarmi, è davvero bella e ben fatta, in bocca al lupo a lui.

A big thank you to Aurora, Armando, Enrica, Giovanna and Antonio who stepped by during the day keeping company, another thank you to Saverio, who helped me during this adventure, with lot of care and support.
